TTouch for cats

TTouch is a gentle training and communication technique developed by Canadian Linda Tellington-Jones, which is based on the concept of clock-wise circular movements made with fingers and hands. Using different pressures on different parts of the body, we can then release tensions, correct some behavior problems and also relieve some health problems.

This method is allowing many animals all over the world to be helped and to establish a better communication while having a deeper relationship with your cat.

Among the many techniques and touches that have been developed, some are more accepted by cats. Every cat is different in itself and at the very beginning he/she will show you what touches allow it to have a higher trust in his owner. With time your cat will come to accept more and more of these touches.

Why is TTouch for cat so effective with felines?

Cats’ skin contains nerves that are extremely sensitive to the touch. The root of each hair is deep enough to directly affect the sensory system transmitting this way continuously information to the nervous system which will directly affect the behavior or response of the cat.

What problems TTouch can correct?

Almost all of them! Some must be combined with a detailed program of behavior modification.

So that we can better distinguish the benefits of TTouch, we are going to split the categories in two: behavior and health care.

TTouch and behavior

At the behavior level, TTouch is recommended for these cats:

Aggressive
Shy or fearful (who don’t have enough faith in themselves)
Sensitive
Cats that suffer from separation anxiety
Nervous
Hyperactive
Unweaned kittens

TTouch and health care: *

At the level of health care, TTouch is recommended for these situations:
Clipping nails
Check and occasionally clean the ears. Very important in detecting a problem like an infection or some parasites.
Relieve fur ball problems
Administer more easily prescription medications
Dental care: it is well advised to check regularly the condition of the gums and the teeth. Older cats suffering from renal deficiency must never suffer from a built up of bacteria.
Prepare your cat for his next visit to the veterinarian
Promote surgery recovery time. ATTENTION: Your veterinarian will probably tell you not to touch the surgery site. But you can always use a touch that will help him relax and speed up the recovery, such as the Mouth or Ear TTouch.
Stimulate the circulatory, immune and nervous system.

*Please note that the touches for health care are only used as prevention or relief. They can never replace the role of your veterinarian.
In detecting an anomaly, like gingivitis, you must make an appointment with your veterinarian.
